U-10

U-10 Boys, U-10 Girls

Pregame: Teams, parents and coaches will take opposite sides to each other on the field of play. Home team will have first choice as to which side they would like to choose to set up on. The visiting team will take up opposite to them across the field.

Players: 7v7, 6 field players and 1 goalkeeper. The minimum to start a game will be 4 field players and 1 goalkeeper. (5)

Ball:Size 4

Game Duration: 2 - 25 minute halves with a 5 minute rest period in between.

Rules of Play: Start of play at the beginning of the game and at the start of the second half, will begin with the ball placed in the center of the field in the middle of the center circle with one team in possession of the ball. The ball may be played by the first player to another to begin play. As long as the ball moves, whether forward or backward, it is considered in play. The first player may not touch the ball twice in succession. Another player must touch the ball before the first player may play it again.

Throw - Ins:Ball must be re-started with both feet on the ground, ball behind the head and thrown forward in an 'overhand' motion using both hands at the same time. Jumping, kneeling, lifting of either foot, or thrown with one hand, will result in a 'Re-do'. The acting official will verbally correct the thrower and ask them to repeat the throw in again. If the player repeats an improper throw in, the official will correct the player again but award the ball to the opposing team and the process begins all over again. (The 10's get 2 cracks at getting it correct)

Goal Kicks: Given when the attacking team last plays the ball over the end line. The goal kick may be restarted from anywhere inside of the 6yd box and must fully exit the penalty area box. Failure to do so will result in another attempt. Players may be inside the penalty box, but may not touch the ball until it clears the full penalty box, unless the designated field player is actually taking the goal kick.

The offside rule is NOT enforced. The pass back rule however, will be enforced. The possessing team may not pass the ball back to the goalkeeper who may pick it up without penalty. An indirect free kick will ensue from the point of infraction. If the infraction occurs inside the 8 yard distance of the goal line, the defending team may line up along the goal line but not closer than the 8 yards marked.

Corner Kicks:  If any of the defending team plays or has last touched the ball before it crosses their end line, the opposing team will restart the game from the corner, anywhere inside the 1yd radius. The ball must be touched by another player before it crosses the goal line to count as a goal. This is an indirect free kick.

Free Kicks: All free kicks are INDIRECT. All opposing players must be 8yds away from the ball until the ball has been put back into play. A goal my NOT be scored directly from the center spot to start the game, a re-start for the second half, or after a goal has been scored. All re-starts must be touched by another player before it may count as a goal, unless it is a Penalty kick inside the penalty box area. This is the only free kick that is direct.

Penalty Kick: This is the only direct re-start. All players must be outside of the penalty box with the exception of the goalkeeper and the designated shooter. As long as the players are anywhere outside of the box, the free kick may be taken. Designated penalty offenses; picking up the ball with the hands if you're not the Keeper, jumping on another player, or any other infraction the acting official may deem it so to be. A 'hand ball' does not constitute a penalty kick infraction, unless the player DELIBERATELY plays it with their hands. All of these infractions must occur within the penalty box area to be awarded a penalty kick.

Substitutions: At only these stoppages of play (including injuries). These are unlimited.

                     1. Prior to a throw in by either team only if the team that has possession of the ball is making a

                         substitution.

                           2. Prior to a goal kick by either team.

                      3. Prior to the game being restarted after a goal (kick-off) is scored by either team.

                      4. During the interval periods by either team. Referee is only notified if a goal keeper is substituted

                          at this time.

                      5. For a player(s) that have received a caution (yellow card), the opposing team, may sub the same

                          number of players.

                      6. For an injured player(s), the opposing team may sub the same number of players.

                      7. For a player(s), who have been ejected (red card) from the game - neither team may sub any

team member and the offending team shall play the remainder of the game a player less than

that of the opposing team. However, if the goal keeper is ejected, a sub may replace a team

member of the offending team and will still have to play with less players to indicate the red

                          carded offended player.

If a field player changes with the goal keeper without the referee's permission, the players concerned and the coach will be admonished at the next opportunity in stoppage of play. No free kick will be awarded even of the new keeper handles the ball.

Slide Tackling: Slide tackling is not allowed. Should this instance occur, the game will be stopped and the offending player will be addressed  by the acting official. If the offending player repeats the offense again, they will be asked to leave the field of play and be replaced with another player so the coach and the player may have a discussion as to the nature of the tackle. The player may come back onto the field of play at the coach's discretion. The game shall re-start with an indirect free kick at the point of infraction.

Mercy Rule: If a team's goal differential reaches 5 (five), the losing team may add another player on to the field to help offset the teams score and allow the team a chance to lessen the differential. Once the team reaches less than the 4 goal differential, a player must exit the field of play.

All whistled calls will be explained by the acting official to the offending team.
